Join Us at the Mutt Strut! On Saturday, October 11, 2014, Philadelphia will once again go to the dogs! At the 8th Annual PAWS Mutt Strut, dogs and the people who love them will walk the scenic route in The Navy Yard to raise funds and awareness for PAWS’ efforts to save Philadelphia’s homeless, abandoned, and unwanted animals.   When: Saturday, October 11, 2014 Check-in opens at 9am, start strutting at 11!

Iffy Tax Measure: Philly Smokers Now Funding Public Schools


On Wednesday, Pennsylvania senators passed a bill that will allocate revenue from cigarette taxes to the funding of public schools. The measure will raise the state cigarette tax from $1.60 a pack to $2 a pack, in an effort to close the $81 million gap in the annual budget for the Philadelphia school district.
